ABOUT PETER J LUCE.

Pete Luce has practiced hypnotherapy and counselling since 1993, following a previous career in the NHS as a mental health nurse.

He has trained and studied with a variety of organisations, motivated by his wish to provide the most effective help available for peoples' personal and psychological problems.

His initial hypnotherapy training, during the late 1980s, was with the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (www.hypnotherapyuk.net).

During the early 1990s he extended his hypnotherapy skills by undertaking the "Phoenix Intensive" hypnotherapy training course with the Milton Erickson Foundation of Phoenix, Arizona, USA. www.erickson-foundation.org . The Foundation carries on the work of Dr Milton Erickson, probably the most influential hypnotherapist of the twentieth century. Both Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) are derived from Dr Erickson's work. Pete's tutor on this course was Dr Brent Geary, who was trained by Dr Erickson himself.

He also studied the theory and techniques of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) with the EMDR Institute of Palo Alto, California, (www.emdr.com). This technique, developed by Dr Francine Shapiro, is used especially for treating post-traumatic stress disorders.

In 1998 Pete obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology from the University of Plymouth.

He has also obtained a Diploma in Counselling from the University of Plymouth, and has undertaken several courses with the European Therapy Studies Institute (www.mindfields.org.uk) and the Iron Mill Institute in Exeter (www.ironmill.co.uk).

He continues to develop his skills and understanding through supervision meetings with professional colleagues, participation in professional discussions, and further study and reflection.
