Hypnotherapy for Complex Problems

PERSONALITY can be defined as the whole pattern of a person’s habits, attitudes, and
beliefs. Your most important beliefs are your beliefs about yourself. Other people sense what you believe about yourself, and often treat you accordingly.
HYPNOTHERAPISTS, like other psychotherapists and counsellors, see many people who
want to make major changes to their personality. Of course this generally takes longer than
helping a specific problem like a phobia, or a problem like depression where the underlying
personality is healthy.
FATE or DESTINY has always been of great interest to human beings. Some people believe
that their personality is defined by the position of the planets at their birth. Some believe
that their personality is defined genetically, by chemical codes inherited from parents and
ancestors. Others see their present problems as punishment for wrongdoing in past lives
or as the result of ill-wishing by secret enemies. I believe that whatever influences may
affect us, we still create our own personality and destiny to a great extent. If we “follow
the path of least resistance”, we will be led helplessly by factors outside of our control.
With practice, however, we can build our own personality and choose our own directions-
just as a skilled sailor can sail against the wind.
